yips - youth involvement program

If you’re a person who
helps the club in ways and your effort usually goes unnoticed

Then YIPs is the thing for
you!

This is a special
invitation for all 14 to 18 year olds interested in joining our Youth
Involvement Program (YIPs). By being one of the first members to join up, you
will learn new skills and earn points and, in turn, you will receive great
rewards for your efforts. To make this offer even better it only costs $30 to
join. This program aims to get the youth of our club more involved in club
activities, rather than just patrolling, and also from now on all Bronzies who
come through our Bronze Camp will also automatically be involved in YIPs.

It all may sound a little
confusing at the moment but don’t worry it will all be explained to you in
detail and if you have any questions don’t be afraid to ask. The concept is
simple, very similar to frequent flyer point or the duke of Edinburgh program. By patrolling at our
beach, competing for the club, or even just doing things around the club house,
you will earn points which go towards many cool rewards. On top of the rewards
when you gain enough points and complete the required patrol hours you are able
to achieve a higher rank; working your way from bronze to silver and then
finally on to gold. At each level you will receive a different unique award.

  • Just for signing up you’ll
get a polo shirt and your YIPs handbook
  • Bronze you receive a YIPs sports bag
  • Silver you receive a Grey Hoodie
  • Gold you receive a 2gb MP3 player

Point System and amount required to achieve

and continue through the levels of YIP’s

Firstly to achieve the Bronze level award you need to
have:

  • 150 points: achieved in 3 areas (lifesaving,
    development etc.)

hours are accumulative, throughout a single season
