Cape Paterson SLSC AGM and Award Presentations

Thanks to everyone who came along to the AGM and Presentations. It was a great day, enjoyed by all.

One of the highlights of the meeting was two of our long serving members being awarded Life Membership – this is the highest award the club can present a member and recognizes many years of continuous outstanding service to the Cape Paterson SLSC.

Wendy Graham has been a member for almost 20 years, was a very active parent whilst her children were involved and currently holds the position of Secretary.

Simon Marangio has been an active member for almost 25 years doing his Bronze in 1984. Over the years he has held many positions on the committee and more recently he has been instrumental in the running of our premier event – The Cape Aquathon.

Congratulations to Wendy and Simon for achieving the highest award possible in our club.

The office bearer’s of the club presented the annual report to over 60 members in attendance. The annual report reflected a very successful year for the Cape Paterson Surf Life Saving Club with over 140 awards gained during the season (63 of these Bronze Medallions qualifying mainly youth members to patrol the Cape Paterson surf beach).

Also of note is our excellent nipper program which doubled its intake on the previous year to over 90 nippers.

The club held its election of office bearers and committee of management with all positions being filled.

The incoming committee is:

  • Dean Manns (President)
  • Peter Clarkson (Vice President)
  • Wendy Graham (Secretary)
  • Keith Bartel (Treasurer)
  • Kendal Brown (Club Captain)
  • Nyree Potter (Vice Club Captain)
  • Jess Bowman (Chief Instructor)
  • David Potter/Laurie Aitken (Junior Club Captains)
  • Graham Bartel (Gear Steward)
  • Mark “Doogs” Legg (IRB Captain)
  • Sam Adams/Alex Dunnachie (Team Manager)
  • Tracy McDonald (Nippers)
  • Karen Marangio, David Brown and Francis Brennan (General Committee)

Thank you to all returning members and welcome to our new recruits.

We were also grateful to have Russell Broadbent (Federal Member for McMillan) join us on the day and present us with a new Australian flag. Russell gave a very entertaining speech, not to mention giving our club treasurer Keith a bit of a roasting!

Kind regards,

Dean Manns
